One group in our city who is often neglected are our neighbors who live in motels across the city. Many of these folks find themselves in a tough spot, without the ability to access permanent housing. Many more are teetering on the edge of homelessness. Often times, these city motels, with their cheap rates and slum-lord-type management, become hotbeds for drug trade and sex trafficking.
On Sunday evening, Watershed chose to go to these neighbors and to share a meal with them. This was a great opportunity to follow after Jesus’ model of spending time and building real relationships with the most marginalized in our society. Barbecues were held at the Four Acres Motel and Holiday Motel….an incredible evening of food, laughter, and sharing life together!
